Blaq Lyte spoke to the German producer and DJ to get an idea about the man behind the mask ahead of his trip to our side of the world:
Q: When was the last time you played in Pattaya?
A: This is actually my first time playing in Pattaya — and I’m really excited about it. I’ve played in Thailand before and always had an amazing experience, but bringing the show here feels really special. I’m looking forward to connecting with the crowd in a whole new setting.
Q: Are your sets in Thailand or Asia different from other locations?
A: Yes and no. I always adapt a little depending on the vibe of the crowd, but I stay true to my sound. In Asia, I often find the crowd really appreciates the melodic and emotional parts of my sets, so I might lean into that a bit more.
Q: How do crowds here respond to your sound compared to elsewhere?
A: Honestly, Asian crowds are some of the most passionate and respectful. They come to truly listen — not just to party. That makes it very rewarding for me as a performer.
Q: Will your set be an immersive experience?
A: Absolutely. That’s always the goal. It’s not just about the music — it’s about the journey, the visuals, the connection. Every show is designed to be a full-on experience.

Q: Do you always wear your mask when performing?
A: Yes — the mask is part of who I am on stage. It helps me get into the zone and also lets the audience focus on the music and not the person behind it.
Q: Is it always the same mask or do you have several?
A: I have a few now. They’re custom-made and each has a slightly different design, but all stay true to the Venetian style that started it all.
Q: When you first wore it in Brazil, what was the experience like?
A: It was strange but powerful. I was nervous, but once I put it on and walked out, something shifted. It created a bit of mystery and intrigue — and it just stuck from there.
Q: How long did it take for your career to really take off?
A: I started producing around 2006, and things slowly built up from there. But it wasn’t until around 2015, when I launched Fckng Serious, that things really exploded.
Q: What would you say was the moment where you were like, “ok, I’ve arrived”?
A: Playing Tomorrowland for the first time was a big one. Also, selling out massive venues like Red Rocks or headlining Ultra — those moments really hit me.
Q: Any high points in your career so far?
A: Too many to count, but definitely launching my own label, creating my “in concert” show concept, and playing iconic venues all over the world. Each step has felt like a high point.
Q: What’s it like working with Kolour?
A: Kolour has been amazing. They really care about curating quality events, and you can feel the passion they bring to the scene in Thailand. Super professional, and great people too.
Q: How did you find your high-tech minimal sound?
A: It came from experimenting. I didn’t want to follow trends — I just wanted to create something that felt unique. Mixing emotion, melody, and punchy minimal grooves — that became my signature.
Q: Do you feel like you’ve inspired a movement with this style?
A: I think so. A lot of new artists are embracing the high-tech minimal vibe now. It’s great to see that — it means the sound is evolving and resonating with people.
Q: Are your sets comprised entirely of your own music?
A: Mostly, yes. I love playing my own tracks and unreleased edits. But I’ll sometimes drop something from another artist that fits the mood perfectly.
Q: Are there other artists making similar music that you like to showcase in your sets?
A: Definitely. Julian Wassermann, Moritz Hofbauer, and some new talents on Fckng Serious are pushing great sounds. I like supporting fresh music that fits the high-tech minimal world.
