The Blaq Lyte Block Party is Bangkok’s original block party. Previously called Bangkok Block Party during the pre-pandemic era, this is our first edition in four years. This time we’re bringing things inside the multi-floor space of one of the city’s premier nightclubs, Beam. We always bring top talent from around the world and spotlight local underground heat—and this year is no exception.

Our headliner is the Swedish Drain Gang leader Young Lean and his particular brand of warbly, eccentric rap. Other headliners are Hong Kong’s Arthur Yeti from the globe-trotting hybrid label Yeti Out, the instrumental hip hop beats of sample-savvy Onra out of Paris, local dance music stalwart Sarayu of More Rice Records, and more. The bill is packed with support by regional artists doing big things like Saigon’s global club DJ extraordinaire Larria, the deconstructed noise of Bangkok’s Nuh Peace, the cunty trax of Indonesia’s Cristal No. 5, the Viet bootlegs of Demonslayer, and more.

Of course, we have our very own Motley Flower making a special appearance as well. Motley is the artist alias of Nick Supreda, the Blaq Lyte owner and founder. He launched our organization with a tiny bar in Thonglor a decade ago and grew it into a creative collective that organizes events, runs nightclubs, owns clothing stores and brands, publishes a magazine, and more. The Block Party is not only a celebration of Bangkok’s reopening to the world, it’s also our ten-year anniversary as well our Nick’s birthday party.

The event is on Jan 19th from 6PM to 3AM and Jan 20th from 3PM to 3AM. There will be pop ups from Hennessy, Soho House Bangkok, G-Shock, local food vendors including Gallerie Pizza and Sor’s Sliders, tattoos by GRIMALKIN and WENDYISDEAD, and many more tables. Tickets are available on Ticketmelon. All tickets are for both days except VIP tables, which are sold by stage and by day.

YUNG LEAN
No introduction is needed here; if you already know, you know! Lean’s music has been a big part of our lives here at Blaq Lyte. This will be his first time performing at the block party but we’ve worked together before back in 2019 for the Pan Burriam festival. Thanks to my brother Thaiboy Digital for connecting us and making this happen both times. I don’t think you’ll ever find this kind of opportunity to see him in a club up close and personal. Only here. – Nick
(Sweden)

SGAMO
Our friend all the way from Italy is stopping by Bangkok for his last gig during his Asia tour! He’s an amazing DJ playing fun hip hop remixes and he loves getting the whole room to dance with him. Last year he played at Air with The Whooligan and we’re excited to have him back with us at our block party. – Nick
(Italy)

ONRA
The legend Onra will perform some amazing tunes for all of us. I’m really excited about this. He’s now a local in Bangkok and my new friend. – Nick
(France)

ARTHUR YETI
This one here is big bro Arthur! He’s been a big part of the Blaq Lyte family since the very beginning. I met him when I opened my first bar on his birthday, and ever since then we’ve been throwing parties and partying together around the world. Without him and his brother, I wouldn’t have been inspired to do what I’m doing today. They help me see how important Asian culture is and I have nothing but respect for my twin brothers from another mother. – Nick
(Hong Kong)

AR
My homie AR is from London via Jakarta and is a DJ from the Eastern Margins crew. They played at Air last year and it was super fun. He’s pushing club mutations from Asia and beyond and his sets cover a broad range of eclectic, high-octane oddities. Expect maximum redline energy. – Nick

LONELY GIRLS CLUB
These are pretty much my sisters. Not only they are hot, but they’re fun to be around and their music selection is fucking fantastic! I’m so happy to have them in my life I can’t wait for all of you to be dancing to their set!!! – Nick
(Thailand)

HEARTBREAKKIDZ
One of my favorite all-around DJs out of Bangkok, he played my very first Blaq Lyte party 10 years ago. This was when I first came here and he was doing this party called cmyk. – Nick
(Thailand)

XICO XXIII BEATS
Xico, who’s part of the XXIII Beats collective, is master at elevating the club experience to new energy levels. From global percussive sounds to electrifying baselines from the UK realm, he owns an exclusive fast lane all his own. – Nick
(Portugal)

DJ ROOTS
He’s a producer and founder of @vitaapgu. He’s been coming over to Thailand like it’s his second home and played a few times with us last year, but this is his first time playing at the block party. – Nick
(South Korea)

CHI MIN
The queen of Ho Chi Minh City! She’s been nothing but amazing. She showed us around Vietnam and took us to eat snails and we loved it! Also, last year, she played an amazing set at Air and now we are excited to see her play at the block party with her crew. – Nick
(Vietnam)

DNOPF
This will be his first time in Bangkok. He has a wide spectrum and strong understanding of music, performing with lots of energy by mixing various genres such as trap, future beat music, and house, so Bangkok let’s show him how we party. – Nick
(South Korea)

VINYL RICHIE
P Richie here, my half-Thai, half-British brother who lives in Seoul. I’m sometimes lucky enough to get to hang out with him after he visits his mom, who lives in Pattaya! I love partying with him and he’s doing great things in Seoul Seoul Community Radio. He’s bringing a whole crew to DJ as well. – Nick
(South Korea)

SENGYUM
I met last him year and he did a few fun parties at Air. He was born in Hong Kong and raised in a family of jazz musicians. His Father was also a session musician for artists like Shirley Bassey, Elvis Presley, the Beatles, and many more. Seng Yum started learning how to DJ while working in the infamous BFD skate shop in Hong Kong and went on to tour as a hip hop DJ in NY, Vegas, and London. Now back in Hong Kong, he’s transcended to house music, but can still throw down a good hip hop set. The man is an OG! Come listen to his set because this time he’s doing something different than he’s ever done in here before. – Nick

MOTLEY FLOWER
I’m doing my first performance this year at the block party, so please come and support your boy. Also, if you didn’t know, the block party actually started as my birthday party. A lot of my friends just happened to be in town during that time back in 2017, so I just decided to make it a block party and give all my friends who wanted to DJ a chance to play. I’m so happy to see how organic it has grown. Thank you Bangkok for giving me a place to call home. – Nick
